Flip Ultra firmware update

After a long hiatus when I had abandoned the buggy Flip Ultra camcorder, I decided to try it out again today and discovered that Pure Digital has put up a firmware update that promises to remove the glitches (that includes a non-responsive red button after a shot is commenced.

I found it a long and tedious process, when the videos (which in my case exceeded 600 MB) had to be backed up by the update utility. It was taking so long that I unplugged the recorder and tried to copy the videos one by one to eliminate the huge files from the camera, repeatedly having to unfreeze the recorder by removing and replacing batteries.

The Flip is a good idea, and its videos are indeed good, but it can eat up a lot of one’s time with its problems.
